One of our church members just came back from England recently. I was in his house to say welcome. He displayed films recorded by him and some photographs of interested places.
In the lnternational Slavery Museum in Liverpool, England, the devastation of generations of enslaved men, women and children was displayed. The price innocent people have paid for the greed of others is horrifc-but theirs is not the only cost.
Engraved in a wall of the Nuseum is a profound observation made by Fredrick Douglass, former slave and crusader for human rights, which reads, "No man can put a chain about the ankle of his fellow man without at last finding the other end fastened about his own neck".
In the acts of dehumanizing others, we dehumanize ourselves. when we choose to hate, that hate can come back to us in the form of consequences and that includes how we choose to treat others. The seeds we sow today determine the kind of fruit we will reap tomorrow.
How do you treat those around you especially, those under you? As christian, we are all under one Master. Jesus, a master who love, kind and cares all the time.
May God give us the spirit to sow the seeds of love and kindness anywhere we find ourselves. By doing so, we preach the Gospel of Christ.
